The Pirate Boat Casino
The time is nigh for the tide to be high, so you may be tempted to make big splash at the casino - literally! There was no better place to do this than the Macau Palace Casino, otherwise known as the Pirate Boat Casino. This oceanic icon has even made a big screen appearance in a classic James Bond film - The Man with the Golden Gun (1974) starring Roger Moore and Christopher Lee, as renowned superspy James Bond and infamous assassin Francisco Scaramanga respectively.
Owned by SJM Holdings, a company owned by casino kingpin Stanley Ho - a man with a varied and interesting life, who once held a monopoly on the casino industry in Macau (with a such tight grip for decades that he was known as the king - or godfather - of gambling), and his family still own many of the casinos in Macau, such as MGM Macau, Grand Lisboa and the City of Dreams.
At the peak of the Macau Palace's popularity, it was a regal presence on the waves however, with time it became increasingly dated, especially with Macau's vibrant and colourful range of casinos surely catering to the needs of nearly every player, the smaller, older and less elegant, the Macau Palace Casino became an increasingly less attractive option.
Supposedly towed away in 2007, it no longer remains in the site immortalized in The Man with the Golden Gun, leaving an empty space and undoubtedly fond memories for many visitors.
Furthermore, plans for a new floating casino in Macau - the Dragon Pearl Casino - which was supposed to function using cryptocurrencies - have been (metaphorically) dashed against the rocks after a disagreement between contractors and the company behind the casino. It's a shame as a floating casino comparable in size to the MGM in Las Vegas would have been a great spiritual successor for the Macau Palace Casino, and would have left a legendary legacy. Even so, it's possible that Macau will have its own piece of Atlantis again soon - until then, you could just watch The Man with the Golden Gun again or play some sweet slots here at Slotto, like the Lord of the Ocean online slot game, Fishin' Frenzy online slot game or the Book of Ra online slot game.
